Troodon

Gameplay guide

This profile gathers useful information for choosing this dinosaur, understanding its role, and preparing a Gateway session.

Play style

Venom pack

Troodon plays as pack poison, not as a small Dilo. It is tiny, fragile, and weak in direct duels, but becomes miserable to fight when several players rotate right-click pounces with discipline. Pick an isolated target, land a pounce, dismount, wait for the vocal cue, send the next pounce until stage 3, then commit as a group. A good pack does not look for bravery; it looks for timing.

Play style

Active abilities

Left click

Light bite

Left click performs a small bite. It mostly finishes weak targets, takes a quick chip, or buys defense after a bad pounce. With only 15 bite force, Troodon should not stay in a frontal duel.

Right click

Venom pounce

Right click triggers the venom pounce: this is Troodon's practical poison tool. Unlike Dilo, the plan is not to left-click bite and then trigger a ranged hallucination; Troodon needs to land a pounce, inject venom, dismount cleanly, wait for the vocal cue, then repeat.

Staggered pounces

Venom buildup

Venom works in three stages. Each valid pounce advances exposure, but only if the pack respects the timing: pounce, release, listen for the confirmation call, then send the next pouncer. At stage 3, the target is fully envenomed; that is when the whole pack can commit hard to maximize damage.

Envenomed target

Victim-side effect

From the victim side, Troodon does not work like Dilo's active hallucination pressure. Community sources mainly describe progressive poison: a blue then pink scent-readable outline, ground fog that makes small Troodons harder to track, then at stage 3 a target that shakes, loses color, and takes maximum pressure. Dilo-style darkened vision is therefore not our main reference for Troodon.

Calls / coordination

Vocal coordination

Calls help coordinate the pack and read the right attack timing. After a successful venom pounce, nearby Troodons emit a vocal cue: that is the green light to move to the next stage. If the pack pounces too early before that cue, it can break venom progression instead of speeding it up.

Troodon

Attacks

  • Small primary bite
  • Repeated venom pounce
  • Venom pressure after enough exposure
  • Directional correction bite

Strengths

  • Venom rewards repeated, coordinated attacks
  • Pack limit of 10, excellent for multiplying pounce windows
  • Fast for its size, reaching 45 km/h as an adult
  • Tiny profile, hard to track in combat chaos
  • Very annoying at night or in areas where the target reads angles poorly

Weaknesses

  • Extremely fragile against direct hits and stomps
  • Very low raw bite force
  • Heavily depends on coordination; a disorganized pack loses a lot of value
  • Each pounce exposes Troodon to immediate punishment if anticipated
  • Large targets remain dangerous even when poisoned

Official notes

Selection-screen data: Preferred Food Pachycephalosaurus, Tenontosaurus, Kentrosaurus, Bullfrog, Chicken, Deer, Rabbit, Compsognathus, Hypsilophodon, Goat, Seaturtle, Psittacosaurus, Dryosaurus, Pteranodon, Maiasaura. Basic Max Weight 60.0, Basic Max Speed 1250.0, Basic Max Bite Force 15.0, Basic Max Group Size 10. Update 6.5 adds Troodon as an EVRIMA playable class alongside Beipiaosaurus, Ceratosaurus, and Gallimimus. Official notes describe Troodon venom as an exposure mechanic: poison gets worse the longer it remains in the bloodstream, eventually letting a coordinated pack rapidly drop larger prey. Official notes tie Troodon to strong vocal coordination: nearby Troodons emit specific sounds when a target becomes envenomed, helping the pack synchronize attacks. Later official notes adjust Troodon, including pounce behavior, impact damage, and how venom is applied or exploited in combat.

Community notes

Evrima Quick Guide matches the selection screen: 60 kg, 45 km/h, 15 bite force, and a pack limit of 10. Raw speed 1250 converts to 45 km/h with the 0.036 multiplier. The EVRIMA wiki describes Troodon as a tiny nocturnal venom carnivore, dangerous mostly in coordinated groups but extremely vulnerable when read. Steam discussions and community guides match the practical behavior: venom is mainly played through right-click pounce, in three applications spaced by pack vocal cues. Pounce spam before the cue can regress or reset the progression. Size check: the selection screen mainly confirms weight, speed, bite force, and group size. Current community sources point closer to about 1.80 m in length and 1 m in height; the previous 2.4 m value was too high for our max size field.
