Dryosaurus

Gameplay guide

This profile gathers useful information for choosing this dinosaur, understanding its role, and preparing a Gateway session.

Play style

Evasive forager

Dryosaurus plays as a smart little prey animal. It almost never wins by holding a duel: it wins by seeing danger before it lands, saving its two dodges for the real contact moment, then breaking line of sight. The ideal loop is simple: feed quickly, drink with an exit plan, cross open ground as little as possible, and use its small profile to disappear rather than provoke.

Play style

Active abilities

Left click

Light bite

Left click performs a bite or small defensive strike depending on the situation. With only 20 force, this is not a fighting plan: it is a last tool to push back a tiny threat or buy one second before escaping.

Right click

Dodge

Right click triggers dodge. It has two charges that refill after a delay, and dodge does not spend ordinary stamina. The correct use is to wait until the predator truly commits, then dodge at the last moment; dodging too early simply gives the enemy time to correct.

Camera + direction

Directional escape

Dodge direction is prepared with camera and movement. Dryo should not sprint in a straight line until stamina is gone: break the attack line, disappear into grass or behind terrain, then stop making noise once the predator loses sight.

Positioning

Small profile

Dryo's small body is an ability on its own. It should play tall grass, open forest, slopes, and direction changes. Its survival comes less from winning duels than from disappearing successfully.

Dryosaurus

Attacks

  • Small defensive bite
  • Small directional strike to correct a close angle
  • Charge-based dodge to break a committed attack

Strengths

  • Very fast for a small herbivore, reaching 45 km/h as an adult
  • Two dodge charges that do not spend ordinary stamina
  • Small profile that is hard to follow in grass and forest cover
  • Group limit of 10, useful for multiplying eyes and warnings
  • Can leave a bad place quickly without looking for a fight

Weaknesses

  • Very low bite force, unable to sustain a real duel
  • Very fragile if a carnivore actually reaches contact
  • A dodge used too early or into the wrong angle gives the predator a second chance
  • Open water approaches are dangerous, especially around Deinosuchus and fast predators

Official notes

Selection-screen data: Diet DT_Herbivore, Preferred Food VariegatedOrange, Agave, SunchokeRoots. Basic Max Weight 130.0, Basic Max Speed 1250.0, Basic Max Bite Force 20.0, Basic Max Group Size 10. Official notes indicate that Dryosaurus dodge works through a charge system rather than normal stamina use. Official EVRIMA notes added and adjusted directional attacks, giving Dryo a small close-range answer without changing its main evasive role. Official updates adjusted dodge behavior, including direction and cost, confirming it as Dryo's central EVRIMA survival tool.

Community notes

Evrima Quick Guide matches the selection screen: 130 kg, 45 km/h, 20 bite force, and a group limit of 10. It also notes that dodge has two charges, refills after a delay, and does not consume ordinary stamina. Community sources describe Dryosaurus as a tiny, fast, agile, fragile herbivore built to read danger, refuse fights, and survive through movement. Watch old sheets: Dryosaurus is associated with burrowing in Legacy, but in EVRIMA its current playable tool is mostly dodge. Steam player discussions also flag this confusion between old burrow behavior and current dodge.
