Dilophosaurus

Gameplay guide

This profile gathers useful information for choosing this dinosaur, understanding its role, and preparing a Gateway session.

Play style

Nocturnal harassment predator

Dilophosaurus plays as a pressure carnivore: pick a vulnerable target, envenom it, disrupt its reads with hallucinations, then use short repeated engagements instead of staying exposed. It is especially interesting in duos or small groups, but should stay careful around heavier or more explosive adults.

Active abilities

Left click

Main envenoming bite

Left click is Dilo's main attack. It deals direct damage and, more importantly, envenomates the target, but venom only works from 50% growth onward. The rhythm is to bite, reposition, let pressure build, then come back before the opponent fully regains control of the fight.

Right click

Trigger hallucinations

Right click triggers mental pressure on a target that is already envenomated. It can be used at range and does not need to physically hit the enemy. An envenomated target turns purple once venom is advanced enough: that is the right moment to trigger hallucinations, which disrupt the target's reads and deal damage.

Scent

Check envenomation

Scent is also used to read the target's state: Dilo should use it to confirm whether the enemy is envenomated before spending right click. First, the victim becomes whitish: venom is starting to build and their vision darkens. An envenomated target turns purple once envenomation is advanced enough to trigger hallucinations, which then deal damage. That is what turns Dilo's gameplay into a sequence: find, bite, verify, disrupt, then punish.
