Ceratosaurus

Gameplay guide

This profile gathers useful information for choosing this dinosaur, understanding its role, and preparing a Gateway session.

Play style

Carrion bruiser

Ceratosaurus plays as a carrion bruiser. It is not here to win every race, but to control meals, dirty the ground, and punish opponents who stay too long around a carcass. The rhythm is to find or create a body, build advantage around it, charge bites when the target is trapped, then use bacteria to break its stamina, food, and clarity.

Play style

Active abilities

Left click

Primary bite

Left click remains the simple bite. It punishes close passes, keeps pressure between charged bites, and builds bacteria without staying exposed for too long. Cerato often wins by repeating short ugly trades rather than looking for a clean duel.

Hold right click

Charged bacterial bite

Holding right click charges the bite. The longer it is charged, the more damage and bacteria it applies. A fully charged bite slows Cerato and consumes stamina, so it should be spent when the target cannot simply disengage.

Right click on carcass

Forced decomposition

Cerato can manually vomit on a carcass to speed up decomposition. In practice, this lets it deny clean food to other carnivores, create a food source that favors Cerato, and force opponents to fight in a position that suits it less.

Around carcasses

Carcass control

Cerato is at its best when it turns a carcass into dangerous ground. Near a body, its chuffing grants a defensive bonus, especially stability, helping it hold contact more safely. It can benefit from dirty food and force other players to choose between giving up the meal or stepping into contact with a carnivore built for ugly trades.

Attacks

  • Primary bite
  • Charged bite with increased damage and bacteria
  • Directional bite to punish rotations around its body
  • Bacterial pressure that can cause vomiting and sickness

Strengths

  • Can exploit rotten meat, organs, and bones far better than most carnivores
  • Can build bacterial pressure that forces vomiting, sickness, and bad decisions
  • Receives a defensive bonus near carcasses, helping it hold a contested meal
  • Very strong scent for finding bodies, food traces, and opportunities
  • Bones give it all three vitamins, making carcasses even more valuable
  • Very comfortable around food, with strong tools for surviving contact

Weaknesses

  • Decent speed but not a dominant sprinter: several prey and carnivores can refuse the fight
  • Medium-heavy body with real food pressure: it needs to find or steal meals regularly
  • Bacteria fades over time and can be countered by salt licks
  • Cannot use scent while running, unlike some more mobile carnivores
  • Less threatening away from carcasses and situations where the opponent is forced to stay
  • Ceratosaurus is on its own diet, making meetings between Ceratos potentially dangerous

Official notes

Selection-screen data: Preferred Food Tenontosaurus, Pachycephalosaurus, Ceratosaurus, Kentrosaurus, Carnotaurus, Deinosuchus, Omniraptor, Diabloceratops, Deer, Dilophosaurus, Beipiaosaurus, Goat. Basic Max Weight 1450.0, Basic Max Speed 1120.0, Basic Max Bite Force 150.0, Basic Max Group Size 5. Update 6.5 adds Ceratosaurus as a playable EVRIMA class and frames it as a predator-scavenger that gorges on decaying corpses to inflict bacteria-infected wounds. Official notes describe charged bite: the longer it is charged, the more damage and bacteria it applies, reducing the number of bites needed to make a target vomit. Official notes confirm the corpse-related bonus: patch 0.13.18.17 says Ceratosaurus stability is increased when chuffing around corpses, and DevBlog #48 refers to the buff Cerato receives around corpses. Official vomiting notes say a sick target cannot gain nutrients while the effect is active, with a safety delay to prevent permanent vomit-lock loops. Patch 0.20.109 adjusts Cerato's bite charge: mouth display stays active while charging, full charge slows it and costs stamina, stability is increased during display, and bacteria drains over time or through salt licks.

Community notes

Evrima Quick Guide matches the selection-screen values: about 1450 kg, 40.3 km/h, 150 bite force, and a pack limit of 5. Raw speed 1120 converts to about 40.3 km/h with the 0.036 multiplier already consistent on Dilo and Allo. The EVRIMA wiki describes Ceratosaurus as a carrion carnivore able to eat rotten meat, organs, and bones, with gameplay built around bacteria, carcasses, and gradually weakening opponents.
