Pachycephalosaurus

Gameplay guide

This profile gathers useful information for choosing this dinosaur, understanding its role, and preparing a Gateway session.

Play style

Fracture skirmisher

Pachycephalosaurus plays as a window fighter. It is neither a true tank nor a simple prey animal: wait for the moment someone lines up too straight, charge with the skull, fracture or disrupt, then leave before the heavy answer arrives. It excels in mobile groups, around slower herbivores, or against carnivores that underestimate its impact. Its worst trap is ego: staying after the good hit turns a dangerous skirmisher into a 700 kg target.

Active abilities

Left click

Light bite

Simple left click remains a small bite. With 30 force, it does not define the kit: it mostly finishes, chips, or answers when the skull is not at the correct angle.

Right click

Headbutt

Right click performs the main headbutt. This is Pachy's intimidation tool: threaten a short line, force the predator to respect distance, and punish straight approaches.

Hold right click

Skull charge

Holding right click charges the headbutt. The more readable the commit, the easier it is for the opponent to dodge; charge from short range, from an angle, or while the target is busy. A good ram breaks enemy tempo, applies fracture pressure, and opens a window to leave.

Direction + attack

Directional strike

Directional attacks let Pachy correct close angles without starting a full charge again. They punish targets trying to pass to the side, but they do not replace the real plan: choose the opening, hit, then leave.

Skull impact

Fracture pressure

Pachy is tied to the fracture system. A good charge can break the target's movement or response options, making carnivores much less confident. You do not always need the immediate kill: a well-placed fracture can save the group or reverse a chase.

Pachycephalosaurus

Attacks

  • Small secondary bite
  • Primary headbutt
  • Skull charge after holding right click
  • Directional headbutt to correct close angles
  • Fracture pressure on successful impact

Strengths

  • Can reverse a chase through fractures
  • Mobile enough to choose engagements and leave
  • Very good at breaking the tempo of a predator committing too straight
  • Group limit of 8, strong for harassing several angles
  • Very threatening in short windows thanks to about 41.8 km/h speed

Weaknesses

  • A charge that is too long or too visible becomes easy to dodge
  • Should not pretend to match heavy large herbivores
  • Hit-and-run play demands good stamina management
  • A missed charge often leaves it exposed to a counter
  • Like many medium herbivores, it is very vulnerable during bad water crossings

Official notes

Selection-screen data: Diet DT_Herbivore, Preferred Food VariegatedOrange, Agave, Coconut. Basic Max Weight 700.0, Basic Max Speed 1161.0, Basic Max Bite Force 30.0, Basic Max Group Size 8. Update #4 adds Pachycephalosaurus as a playable EVRIMA inhabitant with the locational fracture system. Update #4 officializes the fracture system alongside Pachycephalosaurus, confirming its role as a mobility-injury specialist. DevBlog #15 describes Pachy's headbutt with two variations, tap and hold, and notes that fracture plays a role in those abilities. Patch 0.8.75.134 adds unique juvenile locomotion for Pachycephalosaurus and adjusts several plant and herbivore progression elements.

Community notes

Evrima Quick Guide broadly matches the current Pachy role: around 41-42 km/h, skull charge, fracture pressure, and defensive skirmisher play. The Isle Field Guide describes Pachycephalosaurus as a harassment herbivore: enter, break a leg or angle, then leave before large predators can punish it. Weight check: some community sheets still list 500 kg, but the current selection screen shows 700.0. We keep the game value as this migration's reference.
