devs refuse to fix basics even though the game has been out for 10+ years. They definite have passion and talent for building a detailed and realistic simulation, but they have poor judgement in game design: queuing is non existent and getting into servers with your friends can take up to 30 mins, basics like eating are glitchy as hell, hit boxes in PVP are glitchy even though PVP is practically what all players focus on. This is unfortunate because the game has a lot of potential, but I can't recommend it in its current state
Early Access for over a decade. HmmMMM I remember thinking this game would be super neat, a true dino survival simulator. I swear that there was a bigger focus on "there's REALISTIC dinosaurs in this game"- like dinos with feathers or whatever. The pictures on the storepage feature no such thing now, so I wonder if they rolled that back or if that's just a fake memory. Immediately upon playing- the movement felt kind of bad. I've never liked it when devs opt to have player-characters move as if you're steering a car in molasses. Animation transitions look smoother, but at what cost? I walked around in some tallgrass for a little while, trying to figure out the controls, and then someone killed me. Apparently I ended up playing a total of 16.3 hours? I'm not really prone to leaving games idle unless it's something I'm addicted to, so I'm inclined to believe that truly, nothing of note happened in my 16 hours of playing The Isle... so it was probably a jolly good time lol
bad
I don't know why I expected there to be a game here... Its just filling one of two meters and then waiting for those meters to drain. I've made excel spreadsheets with more interaction. "But its a game about surviving" - some random detractor Sure. But survival is really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ boring. Its so boring that we as a species have invented literally millions of passtimes and hobbies because you need SOMETHING to do other than survive. Theres no game here theres nothing to do beyond eating and drinking. Just watch the youtube clips and move on.
not sure what happened but I played the game when first downloaded it and it ran just fine but after I updated it to its evrima version it wont run on my computer because "DX12 is not supported " and idk how to fix the issue.
играю за рекса которого еле вырастил, побежал, споткнулся об камень, прыгнул,умер
broken
Wondering. Nothing. Boring.
fun game. but to play the latest version i will have to upgrade graphics. I tried to troubleshoot it and the game itself will not let me play it. i can only play the original version. kinda sucks to have to drop more money just to play the game i bought.
Don't buy unless you have a decent PC, and a dedicated GPU/CPU.
You cant learn about this game via playing the game, first you start by playing the wrong version which is default, then you play the to date just to not be able to talk via voice or chat globaly to learn from other players. spent 8 hours wondering eating Ai becasue everyone esle was full adult, wanted to explore to regret it as water was few and far between. Water on red i finally found water to just to insatlly die to a croc. 0 player interaction, zero combat, zero fun.
♥♥♥♥ this game
never play this game ..this game keep crash every day and the worst is we talking a survival game which you need to spent hours to grow a dino and you lose it all because the game decide that is a good time to crash during a fight.
Lets get started here. This game is DOGSH*T Why you might ask? Well, lets make a list really quick The isle has been in development for over a decade. Bugs that existed on Day 1, Still exist 10 years later. Nothing of substance has been fixed. Firstly, Development team issues. The Lead developer of the game Dondi is an *ALLEGED* sexual predator who has been *ALLEGED* to use his development studio as a hunting ground while using his hiring group to procure new victims then fires them when they speak out. He (Dondi) is also *ALLEGED* to have spent $400,000 dollars of company revenue from game sales on E-girl League of legends streamers. Instead of using such funds to pay his underpaid staff (Another rabbit hole) and fund future game development. Dondi is also known to frequently attack players and customers in the public Isle discord server who raise concerns about the games development stagnation/direction with racist slurs, verbal and text based abuse as well as threats of violence and game bans. These issues, along with dev team members who are constantly leaving the office due to above issues and others. it makes for an absolute Circus show at The isle Dev HQ. You can google/youtube all of this and do your own digging down those rabbit holes. ENJOY :D Another Note: The "Mostly Positive" Review count currently listed on steam is due to Positive review bombing from Bots and Fanboys since the latest meager content update. It is in no way, shape or form an honest representation of the current playerbases feelings towards the game. The sentiment of the community at large is overwhelmingly negative as of current. Unfortunately, this specific Genre of game being an "Open World Survival PVP Sandbox Dinosaur Simulator" is so lacking in competition that The Isle is the only game currently occupying the space. The players simply have no other alternative to play other than The Isle. Its also another reason why the development team has such distain, disrespect, and arrogance towards their community. They know the players have nowhere else to go. They have the monopoly. They know it, and they abuse it to the fullest. Onto the actual game. Whats wrong with it? Well..... Everything. It looks good? Sure, but after 60 minutes of play youll see why thats all it has going for it. Heres a list> Bugs> Broken animations Missing animations Bugged food items Bugged logouts Bugged Corpses Bugged area's of the map Bugged spawning Essentially every single aspect of the game has major bugs that almost always require the player in best case scenario to relog and at worst case have someone kill their playable. Admin intervention is another option but only for community run servers. None of these have ever been directly addressed by the development team. They consistently and intentionally ignore these issues across the board. Optimisation?> Non Existent. Game runs like a Toaster in a bathtub even on decent hardware. Were talking less than 80 FPS on lowest settings at 1080p on 40 series Nvidia GPU's. Even the footage they release themselves to show new animations and playables runs at like 45 fps on their own in office hardware. Balance?> Absolute nightmare. Most of the logical things youd expect for a PVP survival game are absent in the Isle. Sparring, Unique abilities of specific Playables, Hitboxes, and more are either Broken, Bugged, Partially not working, or not working entirely. Some examples > Specific small playables instant killing other playables 3-4x their size. Zero counterplay to alot of playables. PINSLOP Hard CC. = instant death no matter what Certain playables having absurdly huge damage stats from absurdly small sizes Sanctuary mechanics not working at all. I could keep going for hours... so TLDR > The Game and Dev team is a giant pile of steaming hot Dogsh*T. Valve introducing Rules to prevent games from Sitting in EARLY ACCESS for decades while charging full game prices was a major milestone for consumer rights. Its intention was to stop developers like Dondi and THE ISLE team from doing what they have done right here. Charge $30AUD for a 12 year development Early Access Dumpster fire. Legal action has already been taken and is ongoing to my knowledge against the development team from 3rd party consumers. I have absolutely no idea why Steam has not removed The Isle from the Steam Store and blacklisted the game until they provide a clear timeline for the game to be finished along with substantial results in the quality and content department. STAY CLEAR OF THIS MESS.
Its clunky. You spend 70% of the time in total darkness or in the rain. The combat or horrible. Its a game they gave up on.
Don't waste your time on this game. I took a year long break hoping things would be better and sadly no. you get killed within the first 20 mins of the game or you starve. -1/10
PLS UPGRADE YOU SERVERS
Can not recall more than about 15 minutes of fun in my entire playtime, this is the best way to waste 6 hours at a screen and end up wishing that you watched paint dry instead.
not worth it
some dinosaurs are fun, others are bugged af. Cant recommend PT, the lags, the food spawns early game are a joke. Will definetly be a fun game when finished
This game brings the whole definition of camping in games and just waiting for someone to pass by so you can ruin their day.
**Title: 12 Years of Development and the Servers Still Can't Handle Players** **Not Recommended** Let's talk about the elephant in the room: **THE SERVERS.** The Isle has been around for roughly 12 years, and somehow, basic multiplayer performance is still a massive problem. The game can be fun in concept, but what's the point of having an online dinosaur survival game if the servers struggle to function when people actually want to play together? Here's the reality: try playing on the official servers with more than 20 players, and the experience can become absolutely miserable. Ping shoots up to 130–150, lag becomes constant, and moving around the world feels like you're fighting the server more than you're playing the game. This isn't some minor inconvenience. In a survival game where timing, movement, combat, and staying alive matter, server performance is fundamental to the entire experience. **And what does that leave players with? Community servers.** Unfortunately, community servers come with their own set of problems. Some are run by people who take this game way too seriously, with bizarre rules, questionable behavior, and administrative decisions that make playing feel more like dealing with a power trip than enjoying a dinosaur survival game. Others have administrators who abuse their privileges. Obviously, not every community server is like this, but finding a decent one shouldn't feel like a second job. **Then there's the community and the developers' apparent attitude toward criticism.** Try raising legitimate concerns about broken mechanics, performance issues, or problems that have been around for ages, and you risk running into moderation that shuts down the conversation rather than addressing the feedback. From my experience, the official Isle Discord is not a place where I feel comfortable criticizing the game openly without worrying about being banned. Let me make something clear: players criticizing your game are not your enemy. They're the people spending their time playing it, dealing with its problems, and hoping it will improve. If criticism is unwelcome in your official community spaces, don't be surprised when frustrated players take those complaints somewhere else. **The most frustrating part is the wasted potential.** The concept is great. Playing as a dinosaur in a dangerous world, surviving, growing, hunting, and interacting with other players should be an incredible experience. That's why people keep coming back and why they get so frustrated when the game doesn't deliver. But potential doesn't excuse years of technical problems. An ambitious roadmap doesn't excuse poor performance. New dinosaurs, new mechanics, and new features don't mean much when the underlying multiplayer experience can still be this frustrating. After roughly 12 years, players should be able to expect a reasonably stable multiplayer experience, meaningful communication about persistent issues, and confidence that their feedback is being taken seriously. Instead, the experience can feel like we're being asked to remain patient indefinitely while fundamental problems continue to undermine the game. **My recommendation to anyone considering buying The Isle:** * Don't buy it expecting a smooth multiplayer experience, especially on populated official servers. * Be prepared to deal with high ping, lag, and inconsistent performance. * Understand that finding a good community server may take time, and the quality of administration varies considerably. * Don't assume that reporting problems or criticizing the game will lead to a productive conversation in the official community. * Buy it for what it actually delivers today, not for what you hope it might eventually become. **The bottom line:** The Isle has a fantastic concept buried underneath persistent technical frustrations and community management problems. After this many years, it's reasonable to expect more than a game that struggles with its core multiplayer experience. I'm not asking for perfection. I'm asking for a multiplayer survival game that can handle its players, developers who take persistent technical issues seriously, and a community where legitimate criticism isn't treated as a problem to eliminate. Until those things improve, I cannot recommend this game. **Stop selling potential. Start delivering a functional game.**
I can't possibly put into words how much this f##king game frustrates me, I started in legacy, the game was great, it had its issues but what game doesnt? I've played the isle for a few years now and now in 2026 it does nothing but disappoint me, day after day. Almost every update brings in a new glitch, that isn't fixed till the next update, or it brings in a new feature nobody f##king wanted. Today, I get on, first time in ages, I spawn in as a allo, killed a juvie rex, spend 20 mins trying to f##king get organs out of it, organs and meat wont f##king come out, a cera comes up and eats it easily, WTF?! I have tried and tried to come back, but Im done there are so many more issues I haven't stated but whats the point? dondie (egotistical manchild/r3t@rd) or his developers don't f##king care, so whats the point. May dondie and the devs prove me wrong because I love this game and I want it to be great.
♥♥♥♥♥♥, dumb game. Waste of time. spend hours trying to grow - get killed by anything without any chance to defend. Waste of time.
I wish I could find this game fun but I can't. Anytime you spend hours upon hours growing, you will lose all of it instantly, no skill required, you can have your 100% dino that took you ten hours gone in 3 seconds by a bigger dino who can just hold you down and insta-kill you on the spot. They either need to make growth like 10x faster or rework the combat system because nothing feels rewarding and nothing feels worse than losing ten hours of progress to someone who was simply faster than you. I'm sure many players could find this playstyle fun which I don't think I'll ever understand but considering how busy I am most of the time I just simply can't find joy in losing so much hard work instantly. the game itself 6/10. for me? 2/10
speed hackerssssssssssssssssssssss
Fish still broken
started off pretty fun. now there are hackers using speed hack everywhere. 20+ hours just to grow your rex only to be killed by some a**hole using speed hack (THE ISLE EVRIMA)
Good game but terribly managed. The official servers are trash and so are the admins. Official servers are overrun with hackers and huge overpacking mixpacks (also often with hackers). You should not have to go to an unofficial server where someone has to pay to have, just to get a decent experience. They have group limits in-game but don't enforce it due to sheer laziness or not caring.
