The Good: The Isle is a survival dino game that promises to take you from an egg to a apex adult. You'll eat, drink, fight, raise children, and die. Gameplay loop is short and satisfying. Most sessions can be completed in 30-45 mins or whenever you wish by putting your dino to sleep and picking it back up tomorrow. This game has potential for novel experiences with others online and can really be fun for imaginative play. The Bad: This game has been in EA for a long time. It suffers from most problems that plague similar projects. The premise is interesting but the scope of the game is limited to the gameplay patterns of internet players. So expect griefing, immersion breaking bugs, and hope for how things could go but realizing how they will go. The Ugly: By far the worst issue facing The Isle is the direction toward version 1. For all intent and purpose that direction and development is currently going nowhere. Don't fool yourself into thinking this game will "get better" once "it's finished". It probably will never feel "finished" because the problem with creating a game with survival is deciding where to stop reality and where to start the gameplay. I don't play roblox but my kids do. This game feels like a Roblox game made in unreal 5. But for many that is completely fine. Discussion: Most games that are in development are canceled. Some games are stuck in development hell. Many are pruned and shipped too quickly or approved by a board of executives that grind down all the edges and ship a smooth game. Few games are gems to be cherished. The individual decides which games they find the most appealing. This is another problem with the Isle. The game has been out and in early access for years. There will be many versions of the game or directions of the game that never materialized passed the planning stages. The player base will likely splinter into these game versions. Do you like the Isle? This game has the "yes but.." problem that many EA games have. "I like the game but... what if the dino's had mutations!!" some people love the "but" of developers or random community feedback but other people hate that and what something else entirely. In conclusion: Get this game if you want a sandbox dino game with survival elements. Expect to play a dino game hunting for food, drinking water, and dying to other players(or killing others if that is your thing). Compare the dev cycle of 7 days to die to the Isle and don't expect a polished experience. For some gamers this is exactly the type of game they want. And hell I had fun with my time with the game. I'd say most people wont like this game tho and because of that i don't really recommend it.
No tutorial, only US servers are popping so bad ping if you want to play. refunded after an hour and a half- dissapointing i was ecited to try it.
Found no Servers and couldnt even Host. This game is unplayable right now.
This game sucks. Don't buy it.
bs
waster of time
Give me a game where I am not blasted at the spawn. 66 hours wasted
Not fun can’t find anyone to eat and I starve
I've spend a bit of time on this but is not my personal cup of tea. Downsides: - map to big, you can rarely see other players - you need to use a 3'rd party website just to paste in you're coronates and see where you are - glitches, sometimes you get stuck and have to use commands - because of the lagg, both official and community servers, you see a dino, you attack but it has a rubber band effect Positives: - you play as a dino - you have decent selection to pick from, each has some individual gameplay mechanics - is fun only when you get to interact with other players, but that for me was less than 20% of the time At the current state of the game, I could not recommend it. The online content that promote the game, are kind misleading, just personal opinion.
tree glitch dismounting ruined this game
unfortunately very boring. There's not enough dinosaurs, but for some reason there's human strucutures?
game is so slow and boring finding something to eat is near impossible unless your on a big server and then everyone is leveled up so bad they kill you
buggy as hell
literally unplayable, i have spent the 5 out of my 6 hours playing trying to figure out why the lighting from the sun literally SWITCHES FROM ONE FRAME TO ANOTHER EVERY 2 SECONDS, not to mention the rubberbanding, the ping is just god awful in every single ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ server, just everything about this game sucks, the game itself and the idea is great, but holy ♥♥♥♥ its just unplayable, ive gone as far as clearing cash, redownloading the game, verifying files, ive done literally everything to try and make this game playable but it just sucks ♥♥♥♥, like major ♥♥♥♥, i really really hope i can get a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ refund for this so i NEVER EVER have the urge to download this garbage ass game, 6 hours of my life gone trying to optimize probably one of the most unoptimized games i have ever played in my entire life, and i been playing games for 2 decades, incredible how ♥♥♥♥ a game can get when it just isnt made right. good day.
I used to love this game, but the devs never fix it. FIX THE DAMN CRASHING! It’s been happening for years now. Every time I’m in a serious situation, the game crashes. I’m so tired of this BS.
So many problems on server, high pings every time, some time can't connect need restart game 3-4 time
-load game -alter 30 graphic settings, still runs like aids - alter 25 key binds, forget key binds - load in, spend 10 minutes designing epic dino -go to sanctuary, die at sanctuary x10 - get a lucky break and get to adulthood, die to lag or rubberbanding repeat 0/10 would love to reinstall play for 5 minutes and uninstall once per year
this game is so stupid i cant get the better version and its so laggy
This stupid game will kill your Dinosaur when you are prime/75%+ because there is no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ food, no AI spawn ♥♥♥♥ even though you are in the most spawn place.
How this has so many positive reviews is beyond me. Terribly executed. It's mostly too dark at night even with night vision. Glitchy AI makes any level of enjoyment alone near impossible. Good luck finding anyone around though seems like all the players are hanging out somewhere else. Near full servers and I wander around for an hour not seeing any one or anything. I saw 2 players in 10 hours... Asked for a refund. Dunno if I'll get it after 10 hours of play. Very dissatified customer. I'm too poor for this waste of money. Ping was everywhere when I was connected to "official" australian servers. I got fiber, this is not right. Edit: "Note: The last update made by the developers was over 4 years ago. The information and timeline described by the developers here may no longer be up to date." What? This game has been early access for 10 years?
Infested by cheaters oneshotting anything. U will grow dinos for 10-12 hours just to get killed by cheaters or lag cause the official servers run on laptop hardware or something. Official server admins can't handle the cheating problem so u just report them and get killed by the exact same cheater 5 days later. 7 out of 10 deaths are to cheaters and that are the obvious ones.
**Title:** A High-Potential Game Broken by Server Instability and Cheaters **Rating:** 2/5 Stars **Review:** I put 142 hours into *The Isle*, and at its core, it is a genuinely fun and unique game. I particularly enjoyed playing as the Deinosuchus. However, as someone with a job and kids, my gaming time is extremely limited, and right now, the game feels like a complete waste of time. **Major Technical Issues:** * **Performance:** Severe FPS drops, latency spikes, and frequent ping issues ruin the gameplay. * **Server Instability:** Constant crashes lead to losing hours of hard-earned progress. At one point, progress was practically wiped on a daily basis. * **Broken AI:** Animal and fish AI rarely spawn properly, leaving you to starve before you even have a chance to survive. **The Dealbreaker:** Growing an apex predator like the Deinosuchus takes massive time and patience. Spending hours raising an avatar, only to be killed by fresh-spawn cheaters, completely destroys the experience. As content creators and the community have pointed out, the cheating epidemic on official servers has only worsened recently due to poor moderation and weak anti-cheat. I haven't logged back on since my last encounter with a hacker, and I can't recommend *The Isle* to anyone who values their time.
Bro, buy this game ONLY if you have a friend with a ton of hours and a huge dino to play with. Otherwise, it’s basically UNPLAYABLE. The navigation system requires ancient Indian skills. You’re blindly rotating around an enormous, chaotic map full of dead ends while everyone is trying to kill you. (You can use an online map from a website, but you have to Alt-Tab out of the game to check it, and even then, navigating is still extremely difficult. It basically just gives you a rough idea of where you are.) As a beginner, the most you’ll do in this game is press W, press W, and press W until eventually someone eats you alive, and then you lose all your progress. This game is NOT meant to be played solo. You start as a juvenile, and as you play, you grow. Sounds simple, right? Except they never let you grow. In order to grow, you need to eat AI animals that randomly spawn, but the AI system is so, SO bad for new players. The AI animals can literally spawn miles away from you. You can play for an hour and still not find anything, and eventually you just starve to death. And even when you actually find something to kill, playing as a baby dinosaur—especially something like a T-Rex—makes it almost impossible. The AI animals teleport around like crazy, and while you’re chasing them, some bigger dino can come out of nowhere and one-shot you. And that’s it. Hours of progress gone. This game has a really good concept, but it desperately needs to be more noob-friendly. Right now, it feels like a game made for people who already know someone with hundreds of hours. It’s basically a closed circle. New players trying to play solo are just screwed.
Too many bugs, even for an Early Access game. Framerates are fine on my 4070Ti but the network lag was just too variable to depend on. Wait until they get more of bugs fixed. They also need UNSTUCK and KILL-SELF buttons because it's far too easy to get trapped in places that should never trap you.
it keeps crashing when i try to go in the game and i havent even been in the game.
♥♥♥♥♥♥ game full of bugs. Always stormy or rainy weather not good for eyes and night times are not playeble. You can only see black screen. It is literally black screen not dark or like that.. Completely black
It's unplayable; the FPS is extremely low—only around 10–15—even though my PC can run Cyberpunk 2077 on Medium settings. I tried repeatedly to optimize it, but I ended up exceeding the refund window and can no longer get my money back. Now I'm stuck with a game that is poorly optimized and unplayable.
This is seriously one of the worst games I've ever played. The amount of glitchy bugs is so unreal for a game thats been out as long as this. Let alone the food system is broken. What a let down. Unfished game where the developers don't care about fixing is. So disgusting
So much laggy, even hunting a chicken is really hard, eating even harder
